The strike

We, the people of Martinique, experienced a strike that lasted seventeen days from September 11th to September 28th. It affected everyone from parents,teachers, especially students. The government decided to lay off many "contrats aidés" employees such as school helps, workers in associations city halls were closed. The strikers also caused slow traffic by protesting.

Hurricanes Irma and Maria

In September we had two strong hurricanes in the region, Irma and Maria. They touched the Caribbean islands, particularly St- Martin, St-Barthelemy, Dominica and Puerto Rico; so now some countries help these islands.

Acajou 1 is a small school because we are about 500 pupils but we work in a good atmosphere.

I'm Haitian but I've lived in Martinique for nine years already. I'm in year 12.  I'm in Acajou 1 high School. I'm 15. I like Martinique but I don't want to stay here, I wantto go to the USA for my studies. I'm crazy about English but I speak English a very little bit. Actually, I learn English a lot at school.

I've lived in Martinique for six years before moving to Florida. Going to the United States was an amazing experience. There were so many new things and new places. I've lived there for nearly eight years, then recently moved back to Martinique. I'm now in high school at Acajou 1 in year 12. I am 16 years old. I've lived  in Lamentin since I am 15 years old. I have been learning English because my father speaks English fluently. I am 1,86 tall: people tell me to play basketball but I prefer handball.
