La semaine prochaine

Salut!

We're still on holiday!

You're back to school but we are right in the middle of our holidays.
The rainy season is not over yet. It rains pretty much these days.

For us it's All Saints' on Nov. 1st.

Did you celebrate something special during your holidays?

What I did the day before

Yesterday, I woke up very early, at 4:00 o'clock in the morning.
I took a shower, dressed up, had breakfast and left home at 5:30 AM. I caught the bus to go downtown and waited for the school bus which left at 6:30 AM. We arrived at the high school at 7:00 o'clock.
I went to say hello to my friends.
After the whole day, I went back home and I did my homework.
I had dinner, I spent a moment with my mother and at 8:30 PM, I went to sleep.

Generation Gap

Nowadays, the relationships between parents and teenagers are more and more tense.

There is a generation gap. Youngsters sometimes disagree with their parents and disrespect them.
These arguments are often caused by  a lack of conversation, communication.

In the years to come, how is this relationship going to evolve?

For me, parents are not severe enough with their children. They no longer have the right to hit them to correct them. So it would be necessary to send boys back to the army to redirect them on the right track.

I wonder what the next generation is going to be like.

My relationship with my parents are very simple. I am very open to my parents. I can agree with them as well as I can argue with them. I get on well with them and we laugh much together.

There are young people who are quiet with their parents and others who are naughty. There are teenagers who obey their parents and there are those who disobey their parents doing what they want.

Today, there is much violence in Martinique in some places and it becomes a real danger for teenagers.

We need to find solutions to stop this violence.

There are parents who are concerned, interested in what their children do, who would not let them do what they want and there are others who do not care for their children.
In Martinique, there are different relationships between teenagers and their parents.
There are teenagers who say everything to their parents : their problems, their secrets, and there are others who don't say anything to their parents.
Some parents are stricter than others and despite the severity of parents, children disobey.

Relationships

In Martinique, most of the parents are very protective because they're frightened of  violence.
Young people are fond of social networks, they love to spend time to browse the internet and watch TV.
They love partying, dancing, hanging out with friends and posting pictures on the internet.
There are a lot of limits because parents are afraid that their children sink into delinquency : they want them to become good people.

The relationships with our parents

Relationships between parents and teenagers are generally complicated. Most of them can't communicate. Nowadays, teenagers want more freedom but parents don't understand this need. Teenagers see life a different way. They think that life must be lived without any worry before being an adult and be stressed. This is why teenagers and parents get on their nerves.
To avoid those troubles, teens and parents should communicate more.

A bientôt,
Hana Sommerville (10E)
