Pollution in Martinique

In Martinique, pollution is caused by us, but in different ways. There are people who throw papers on the ground or wash their cars in rivers. There are farmers who use a lot of pesticides for their plants too.
There isn't only the land which is polluted but the rivers and the beaches too. This pollution is very bad for tourism, the environment, the animals but above all for us.

Why is it dangerous for tourism?
In Martinique, tourists are interested by the beaches, the vegetation, etc... If we pollute those places, they wouldn't come to Martinique.

Why is it dangerous for the environment and animals too?
There are a lot of varieties of plants and animal species who died out or are dying out. And these problems are caused by pollution.

Why is it dangerous for us?
It brings many diseases like cancer, skin problems, breathing problems, etc...

I think that to solve this problem, we can organize demonstrations and take preventive measures  against pollution.
We can do more to sort out waste.
We can require the people who make the beaches dirty to clean them by collecting their waste on the ground.
We can also limit the use of private cars and favor the use of public transportation.

  3. How do you propose to limit the use of private cars? They're quite popular in the modern day!

    1. Hi Karen!

In London, there's a congestion charge operating between 07:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. It is not charged at weekends, public holidays or between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

The standard charge is £10 for each day, for each non exempt vehicle that travels within the zone with a penalty of between £65 and £195 levied for non-payment.

I think it's an interesting solution because it encourages people to use public transportation, and it can decrease pollution! Maybe more towns could follow this example!

  4. Very good job Tamara! I agree with you, we can't continue like that. We must do something, because pollution harms human, animals health and environment!
